Maria Alicia Elenaé Vázquez Ulloa

Research fellow at the Cell Fate Lab working on understanding the basic mechanisms that modulate the Notch signaling pathway. My research focus on Notch bidirectionally generating novel data on how Notch ligands functions are modulated by protein interactions and their participation in cancer development. My activities include:

• Maintained records of research findings with analysis and evaluation of results.
• Authored professional scientific papers for publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Participated in discussions, seminars and lectures at international and national events.
• Assisted teaching and instructing students alongside other professors.

I served three years as the leader of the Basic Sciences department where I leader 10 professionals including teachers, lab technicians and clerks. Some of my activities included:

• Organize employee workloads.
• Created and enforced department policies, procedures and standards to meet audit requirements.
• Led regular meetings with team leaders.
• Developed and managed department budget to monitor financial performance and minimize expenses.
• Prepared annual budgets with controls to prevent overages.
• Evaluated employee performance and conveyed constructive feedback to improve skills.
• Create new didactic material and developed curriculum content
• Ensure work and safety in teaching labs.

Extensive teaching experience in subjects like biology, toxicology, biochemistry and research planing. Among my duties were :

• Create new didactic materials like books, guides and presentations.
• Planned and implemented integrated lessons to meet national standards.
• Organize student events including science fairs, entrepreneurial training and science competitions.
• Supervise thesis and graduation exams.
